MK Diamonds secure third successive Sefton Shield

MK Diamonds won the Sefton Shield softball tournament, held at Northern Cricket Club, Crosby on Sunday September 25th for the third successive year. Beating the strongest ever field featuring teams such as Aachen Aixplosives from Germany and the Honey Badgers from Glasow, team captain Leah Holmes was delighted with the performance of the team.

The final itself ending in remarkable fashion with a stunning catch taken by outfielder Chris Chu, cheered by the watching crowd as the boys and girls in blue beat the Mavericks 2 18-7.

The Plate final was won in convincing fashion by the Formby Fins with a 27-12 mercy win over Leeds Bobcats who suffered their second successive plate final defeat.

The tournament marks the end of the softball season on Sefton with preparations for an indoor programme underway and due to start in early October.
